Adventures with Baby Hutch 2: Month 6

I made it through the holidays while pregnant. That is no easy feat. I also hosted 8 people at my brand-new house (read: no furniture, window treatments and we’re all lucky we had towels). Let’s do a recap of month 6!

1. I thought being pregnant in the Winter months would be so much better than my late August delivery with Callahan. I was wrong. I hate being pregnant this time of year. The clothing is so much more difficult and uncomfortable. At least in the summer I could just wear dress after dress after dress. Now, I am struggling to find clothing between my two pairs of leggings and one pair of jeans. Hate it.
2. I got a rug for the baby’s room! I thought I wanted this one… But the $795 price tag was throwing me for a loop. As a second-time mom, I know what will get on that rug. LUCKILY I found this one while perusing my usual home-shopping sites and at half the cost, I was SOLD!
Now I’ve got to figure out what to do for window treatments.…
3. The CFO and I made a special trip to get him a going-home outfit from the hospital. REALLY trying to make sure we keep things just as special for this little guy! I’m sure it’s very easy to get ALL of the hand-me-downs from the big brother (which…he will get a LOT of!). Kept it simple and sweet…and I’ll monogram the hat :).
4. On that note…we decided to do a housewarming/baby celebration party! He certainly will not be getting a baby shower like the prince did (see it HERE), but we want to definitely acknowledge him in a smaller way with friends and family alike. Now I just have to plan that.…eep.
5. It has also really dawned on us that we just don’t have time to do a babymoon…which makes us a little sad. The holidays threw a wrench in timing of things so we’ll have to forgo it this time! We did go to Aruba during my 1st trimester…so I guess that counts :).
6. Getting more and more in to having 2 boys–it’s so fun designing things with them in mind. Their playroom has been a little ‘pet project’ of mine since moving in. Oddly, the boys’ bedrooms and playroom will be the first rooms done in the house. The master bedroom will probably be last! Here is the inspiration behind their playroom–lots of color and no pink allowed!
7. I ordered Cal’s big-boy-bed so we can hopefully transition him in to it BEFORE we have a newborn to deal with as well. I’ve talked to tons of moms who have successfully done this, not to mention he is really just getting too big for his crib. Praying he is ready. I got this one for him in a full-size:
I also got really cute grey/orange bedding from Restoration Hardware and this adorable wallpaper in ‘Bone’ from Serena and Lily! All coming early January and I can’t wait to see his ‘new room’! Then I can really start to get BBH #2’s room ready.
8. I closed out my 2015 wedding season this month and don’t have another wedding until after the baby comes. LOTS of planning between now and then but thankful for the break on the weekends (so is my husband). Being on your feet for 16+++ hours in a day while pregnant is very tough! I’m sure I’ll be so excited to get back to it after he is born though!
9. I have my glucose test today. Wish me luck (please pray my cookie habit hasn’t done me wrong!).
10. We are trying to figure out what to do with Callahan once the new baby is here. He is SO active that we’re worried about those first few months. We are looking in to more full-time school options for him while our wonderful nanny is here with the new baby. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

And here is the bump! Up 11lbs now and feeling every single bit of it.

{Inspired} Eclectic Romance

Tomorrow marks my last wedding of 2015…and my last wedding until I have Baby Hutch #2 as well! I’m looking forward to a nice ‘break’ (we don’t ever take breaks-always planning ahead for future events!), but this one has me super excited to end on. Morgan+Kyle are two of the most genuine, truly in-love couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. A referral from a past couple (the best!), I knew that we were going to have a blast from the first moment we met. And we have. I’m sad that it’s coming to an end; but what a way to go out in 2015. Have I mentioned their 75 degree forecast for their DECEMBER wedding? These two deserve it…and so much more. Here’s a little sneak peek in to their day. Cheers to 2015–you were a good one xo.

Adventures with Baby Hutch 2: Month 5

Another month has FLOWN by and oh my goodness…it has been a busy one!

1. We MOVED! We have spent the last year building what we hope is our ‘forever’ home and it is finally finished! Moving while pregnant, and with a toddler, may not have been the best decision in the world, but we made it! We have 345309485 things to do/unpack/organize but I have been told to take it day-by-day (by friends and my doctor!). We are SO beyond grateful to have been able to build the house so I’m trying to maintain perspective among the absolute chaos.
2. Speaking of moving, this baby is moving–a LOT. I was told that I have an anterior placenta this go-around and I may not feel him a lot. I do, but it’s very different. He is LOW and the kicks feel like they are deep within my body this time.
3. Still have bad acne. And occasional migraines.
4. I have officially started planning for the nursery! I realized that this baby will be here before we know it and I’d love to get Cal in to his big-boy-bed sooner rather than later so I can get this crib in to the new baby’s room. Here’s a little inspiration I put together for this nursery…can’t wait to start ‘nesting’.
Keeping things cool, neutral with a ton of texture and a POP of mustard yellow for some color. I found a great fabric to reupholster the crib with too! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out! And then I need to figure out what I am doing for Cal’s room and the playroom in the basement–eep! The amazingly talented team at Sarah Catherine Collective has the rest of our house covered (omg can’t wait to share that too!), but there is something about the boy’s rooms that I just love to play with (although…I’m sure I’ll be pleading for her help VERY soon!).
5. My go-to belly oils/creams this time are Belli Oil and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. Hopefully they work as well as last time and I remain stretch mark free!
6. I ventured down to Florida for some wedding planning a couple of weeks ago and it was great to see a few of my very best friends (VERY briefly) while being pregnant again so they could rub the belly :).
7. We took our Thanksgiving/“We have moved” card pictures this past month with Allison Kuhn Photography. Baby Hutch 2 made his debut in our family card (as a little bump). It was amazing what magic she could work in just a 4-minute shoot. LRT did my hair and makeup of course :). See them HERE.
8. I need to get more maternity clothing. My wardrobe is SO limited right now and the moms at Cal’s school drop off are probably growing concerned that I am always wearing the same outfit.
9. I started to get anxiety about how to manage mornings and evenings by myself with 2 kids…since Hutch travels a lot for work. Any advice? I assume I’ll just somehow make it work?!?!
10. We OFFICIALLY have a name picked out!!! I ordered some things with his name monogrammed on it. So it’s officially ‘official’ (at least in the South).

And here is my 23 week bump picture…in front of a new mirror in his new room (sad…tears!).…with a different shirt on (can’t find my usual right now!). I am up 6lbs and feeling this belly more and more each day. [Month 5 with Cal]

Our Thanksgiving Card 2015

One of my favorite times of the year occurs when I open up my mailbox to find holiday cards! This year, I was worried with our move that we’d miss out on a lot of them going to our old address, so I decided to get a jump on it and do a Thanksgiving card vs. Christmas with our change of address. Allison of Allison Kuhn Photography graciously took time out of her already busy schedule (she’s a really good photographer if you didn’t already know) to shoot us while our house was under construction. And of course, LRT of Be Pretty came over to make me beautiful and cover up my pregnancy acne. Love you two to the moon. Here is our card and some other pictures–Callahan was being AWFUL and was signing ‘more’ the entire time for food. Beast-mode. All day. Still amazed and love how they turned out :).
And here is the house–almost done! We’re in now…still a LOT to do but loving it!

Adventures with Baby Hutch 2: Month 4

Month 4–woohoo! Finally feeling better. The 2nd trimester is so much better than the first. Just like last time…the top 10 thoughts of the month below!

1. Being pregnant with a toddler running around is a lot harder than with out one. I used to be able to nap at my leisure, sit down and rest…binge-watch Law & Order. Those were the days. They’re gone. Now Callahan wants to table-surf all day and throw things incessantly. First-time-moms…enjoy the quiet.
2. I have had bad acne again this time around. I’ve been getting facials with Priti at Le Petit Spa (also where I get my waxing done) and my skin is much improved. I’m on a totally new skin care regiment too since I turned 29 and realized 30 is quickly approaching (and so are my wrinkles).
3. Waking up to go to the bathroom a lot still…and a lot all day. Worse this time around!
4.  Maternity clothing is in full-force. I have to unfortunately get a new wardrobe since I am pregnant at the exact OPPOSITE time as last year. Still wearing a lot of dresses, but as soon as it cools down I will have to head to the stores…
5. Round ligament pains are also in full-force. Along with some sciatic pain and tailbone pain. Month 9 should feel awesome.
6. I have felt movement for a few weeks already-which is nuts. I think I have another storm brewing in there and my dream of a ‘calm baby’ may never come true.…
7. Callahan has 0 concept of the whole ‘brother’ thing…he’s too young.
8. A lot of people have told me that I am going to LOVE having 2 boys–which makes me even more excited about it!
9. My #1 craving this time has been lemonade…I’ve had to curb that habit because that is NOT good for you! I still indulge in the cookies though. Give me all the cookies.
10. I’ve started to think of some things that I will need double of…any advice would be much appreciated!

First purchase I’ve made is similar to the first purchase I made with Cal–the stroller. We’re obsessed with our Bugaboo so I went that route (after some confirmation from friends with the duo stroller!) for the Bugaboo Donkey Duo in Royal Blue (now my strollers are Gator colors–orange and blue! Did that on purpose.). We love the versatility of these strollers and hopefully the Duo does not disappoint!
I’m hoping to get Cal in to a big-boy bed around 18 months (someone please tell me that is do-able), and then reuse the crib for Baby Boy Hutch #2. I am even toying with the idea of reupholstering the sides of it. I know I can rely on our amazing interior designer Sarah Catherine to help me out here! I have no idea what I’m going to do for his nursery but I want to make it as special as the first!
I have been painfully suffering with terrible migraines lately (I did with Cal too but they seem worse this time around). I was on a 7-day-streak and at my wits end. I texted my Pilates instructor to let her know why I hadn’t been coming in and she rushed over with Essential Oils. My mom is a doctor, truthfully I don’t believe in this stuff. I am all about scientific-based medicine (which you mostly can NOT take during pregnancy). You guys, she rubbed these on me and my headache was GONE within minutes. Needless to say I overnight UPS-emergency-shipped these bad boys and am a total believer.
And here is a 16 week picture of the bump! Much bigger than last time, feeling lots of movement and loving it. Up 2lbs since my last weigh in and loving this sweet boy already.

You look AMAZING! Is it weird that I bookmarked your crib approx 1 year ago and we aren’t even pregnant yet? Obsessed! My sister has that stroller and she absolutely loves it for her 2 little ones
