A New Orleans Engagement

On Friday of last week, something really exciting happened. My best friend in the whole world, my ‘bizatch’, Margaux got engaged. Her fiancé (eek! fiancé!), planned the surprise and asked us to fly in to put some icing on the cake. The two of them drove in from Houston together, Fuad got down on one knee and brought her back to the hotel where we were–SURPRISE! It was a great moment that I will never forget. Wanna know what sweetens the deal even more? Margaux and I have been best friends (bizatches) since the 5th grade. She’s from Paris, France. Her wedding will be there, and I get to be her MOH–SQUEAL. I love that city, and I love this girl. I tried to capture some of the weekend with my trusty iPhone…(1.) Me and my bizatch with her new bling. (2.) Champagne we had waiting for the happy couple at the hotel where we surprised her! (3.) Oh…I played Texas Hold Em’ for the first time at Harrah’s and doubled up–and developed a gambling addiction… (4.) Her gorgeous ring! (5.) The CFO and I flew in on Friday evening–I love seeing cities from above. (6.) Peche  was where we had the celebratory dinner–delish!
(1.) Hand Grenades and Bloody Mary’s to start off Saturday (2.) The architecture in NOLA is so inspiring (3.) and (4.) speak for themselves–Café du Monde is always a must when visiting (5.) I had a traditional absinthe at a pirate bar-the dispenser was very interesting (6.) My new favorite band– Yes Ma’am. I love seeing all the starving artists around the streets-tons of passion and inspiration just wandering around the town.
On Sunday, we had breakfast and Margaux and Fuad got back on the road to Houston. The CFO and I stayed for one more night! (1.) I love all the cats sleeping in windows of galleries (2.) As with weddings, it’s all in the details–the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans did not disappoint with its charm (3.) Piggy-backing on that, I love baths. I take one daily. I don’t shower. So when a hotel has a great bathtub, I get VERY excited. (4.) Jackson Square was quite peaceful on Sunday morning– a rare site. (5.) Flying back in to Charlotte, we were greeted with the most amazing Fall leaves.

Back to reality…I can’t wait to help plan this wedding in Paris! I’ll keep you posted on potential planning trips to come (just because, you know, I’m being a good MOH and have to support the bride :)…).
